Paperwork Required

To allow for processing of your Wedding Licence by the Justice Department you will need to be in Rarotonga for 4 full working days prior to the date of your wedding. For example, if you were to register on a Monday, the earliest you can marry is the Friday of that week. You can pay an urgent fee to have the licence obtained quicker.

The bride and groom must bring the following documentation to allow a smooth process of registering their intent to marry in Fiji.

  • Certified or original copy of their Birth certificate
  • Valid Passport
  • If previously married a copy of the divorce papers
Celebrants
You can choose either a Minister or a Non-Religious Celebrant to perform your wedding ceremony. There are a number of faiths represented in Rarotonga including the Cook Islands Christian Church (derived from the London Missionary Society which was formed by the Protestant churches.
